An typical burglar alarm system may consist of a control keypad to switch the system on or off, a number of detectors (many types are available depending on conditions) and sounders inside and outside the premises to scare off the intruders and alert someone close by. Panic buttons may also be added to the system which would activate the sounders or dialler to alert someone when pressed.
As well as this you may want it to call or text someone when it activates or even call the police depending on the location and your particular circumstances. It may be that your insurers require you to have a police calling system.
